Today didn’t started out the way I hoped for, but being the positive person that I am (although sometimes things just really get to me. I know, perks of being a human right? 😉 ) I said to myself that things will be better soon. To give you an idea on what I’m talking about I will tell you what I do for a living, and what does that have to do with my day today. I am a Virtual Assistant and part of a company who caters to businesses around the globe looking for people to do certain tasks for them. So today, I was told that we will now know who the client chose for the job. As I was waiting for one of the associates of the company to give me feedback I was doing the usual stuff, like looking into blogs of my classmates and reading stories shared in Facebook. Then I came across this story that was shared by one of my friends.
This is a story about a young man who never gave up on his dreams. This is a typical scenario in our country. Not all have the means to pursue what they want or at least have what they need. He came from a family with limited means, although he was a scholar at some point but because of funding concerns he wasn’t able to continue. He worked in a call center (Philippines is abundant with BPO or Call Center companies) as a means to an end. He worked and study at the same time. We all know that doing several things at the same time is hard, heck doing one thing at one point is hard enough, right? Anyway, so he was juggling between work and studies and after 10 years of hard work, dedication, perseverance and absolute faith, he made it! He is now one of the thousands who will graduate this coming June 2016. Amazing! And in one of Philippine’s top Universities no less.
So as I was reading this story, I was told that somebody else got the job. Or at least the client was leaning towards getting him instead of me. Well, that’s alright. I mean I do need it but I guess its just not for me. As one of the associates, Dana, told me “things happen for a reason, who knows something great is coming your way. Don’t get discouraged.” Who could still be upset after that, right? She is definitely right, maybe something better will come along and I just have to hang on and keep doing what I do until I get the lucky break that is meant for me.
I guess all I am saying here is that no matter what happens there is always hope that the rainbow will always be there after a storm. Just like my current job, do you know that I was feeling a bit hopeless already when they called me for an interview? They were the last company I applied to. I was about to give up when I told myself “one more application Princess, one more and you’re off to bed”. Then I got a notification in my email about the job! See, there’s always, always something for you. You just have to keep your cool and do your best in everything that you do. I remembered my dad telling me “as long as we have gas and there is a road ahead of us it will be alright.” That’s what he usually say when we’re lost 🙂 For me, at this point what I’m telling myself and what I want you to know is “as long as you are breathing, as long as you know your value and as long as you have faith in yourself and in God things will be better.” And I know it will. So for all of you who’s going through something right now whether its a big deal or not just hang on and keep moving forward!
