In finding the right job that fits your needs is hard to determine at a glance. As per my experience in different fields and industry, I would say that instead of asking “what can this company do for me?” you should ask yourself “How can I make this an opportunity of a lifetime?”.
I believe whatever industry you belong to, regardless if that industry is at its peak or not, if you do not make an effort to make things happen, nothing will. It has to start from you. I have accepted jobs that I think at the time is not the right fit for me because of the experience that I have and the pressure that goes with the job, but since I treat every opportunity as a way to excel and learn something new I have always accepted the challenge of being the “newbie”.
Everyone has different learning curves, I know, but everything can be learned if you are willing. We are fortunate now, since almost everything is available on the net, can you imagine folks before who actually have to go through an ordeal to learn. As long as you know how to read and write, nothing is impossible this days. I remember when I first got a job that requires me to work with excel. I am not very good at it, to be honest. But the opportunity is laid right in front of me, all I need to do is reach out and grab it. So I did! I spent countless hours determining how I can go about the work, use excel, and be efficient about it. Now, I can say that I am kind of good with it, I have gone a long way from that girl who use to cringe of the thought I have to look at an excel file. I made it! And I am happy that I didn’t step back and second guessed myself, for if not I wouldn’t have landed the best job on earth!
Its just a matter of exploring new ideas, learning new ways and keep reminding yourself ” I can do whatever I want, be whatever I want and succeed”. You are yourself’s cheerleader, never doubt what you do or what you can become. At the end of the day when you look at the mirror you see a winner, someone who kept her head down and kept pushing forward.
